Doing it myself - conceptualizing

So, I have wanted to take on a little DIY project for some time. My original thought was to make these cute pelmet boxes, but I am having a hard time finding affordable fabric I really like, so that is on the back burner for the time being. I have an empty space in my living slash family room that would look cute with a side table. My plan is as follows:

1. Purchase a table such as this from Craigslist

2. Paint it a punchy color, like this table from LGN

I like this mustard color - I think it might be Martha Stewart #2 Pencil

3. Get a cute knob like this

4. And spraypaint a gourd lamp as so (again from LGN)

I want this general shape and am going to check Homegoods/TJ Maxx/Christmas Tree for a good deal
